Our Story
Dave's Leather Goods is a small, local endeavor based here in Perth, Western Australia. Everything you see is designed and made by my own two hands. I use mainly two type of leather: full-grain kangaroo and top-grain cow leather. I use top-grain cow leather for larger items like bags, mats, and cases. For smaller pieces such as wallets, I really enjoy using full-grain kangaroo leather – it's just a lovely material to work with.
How it all started
Honestly, it all began with a bit of curiosity. I’ve always been drawn to making things, and when a friend showed me a leather iPad cover he’d bought, something just clicked. I thought, "Maybe I could try that." So, with a bit of research and a few new tools, I gave it a go. Turns out, I really enjoyed it! I started making things for myself, then for friends and family. Before I knew it, I was spending all my spare time in the workshop. It felt like a shame to keep it all to myself, so I thought I'd share my work online. And the name? Well, "Dave's Leather Goods" just seemed simple and straightforward.
What I hope to do
My aim is really just to keep learning and improving. I want to create simple, practical leather goods that are well-made and, hopefully, last a good long time. I try to be mindful of the materials I use and create things that are useful for everyday life. It's a real joy to see someone appreciate something I've made.
